“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your hearts. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7
What a command we are given by God through Moses! It seems so clear and simple. Yet, what a challenge it is to follow in our daily lives. Regularly the world is trying to pull us and our children away from this simple command to love the Lord. We are easily distracted...I know I can be. But here we have another command. To teach our children diligently to love the Lord...not just in the morning, not just at bedtime, but all day long!
It is such a privilege to be able to educate our children all day long at home; to be able to find chunks of time to teach them about God as well as math, reading, and science. We get to learn along with them and to see subjects through their eyes.
It is not an easy path to travel, but you are not alone! Our hope is that we can come along beside you and we can all encourage one another. Talking with other homeschooling moms and dads about curriculum choices, struggling learners, or activities to keep the winter blues away can be such a support.
We are a non-denominational Christian support group whose mission is to provide encouragement, prayer, fellowship, information, advice, and various opportunities to families desiring to educate their children at home.
Our monthly “adults only” meetings are a rich time of encouragement and meet the 4th Tuesday of each month (except December, June & July - May is our annual used curriculum sale) at River Valley Christian Church, 5900 Lake Elmo Ave. N., Lake Elmo, MN
6:30-7:15 Sign up for field trips/events, check things out of the Resource Library, fellowship
7:15-8:45 Encouragement in the form of prayer and small group sharing or hearing special speakers, meeting new friends and seeing old friends, having refreshments and planning joint activities.
You will have opportunities to make friends for your children and yourself, but you will need to participate in activities and small groups for this to occur. The Ministry of Helps is an excellent way to get involved with our group and get to know people better. It may be as simple as bringing treats one week or helping sort test results, or it may be as complex as organizing a field trip or hosting a family fun event.
Blessings to you and your family,
